Weekly Bitcoin DCA: 8-Week Log — Small, Consistent Buys
I’ve been buying a small amount of Bitcoin every week. These are my study notes and simple progress log after 8 weeks—how it feels, what I noticed, and how a steady routine helps.
Why I Chose Small Weekly Buys (DCA)
I set a small weekly budget (about KRW 10,000) and buy on a fixed day. This approach is often called Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA), which spreads out entries and can reduce timing stress. I’m still learning—not an expert—so I’m simply keeping notes as I go.
8-Week Log
I live in Korea and actually use a Korean exchange (Upbit) for my purchases. Since many readers are international, the screenshot below is shown using a Binance example so the UI looks familiar.
| Week | Buy Amount | Cumulative (KRW) | BTC Bought (week) | BTC Total (cum.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | KRW 10,000 | KRW 10,000 | 0.000020 | 0.000020 |
| Week 2 | KRW 10,000 | KRW 20,000 | 0.000021 | 0.000041 |
| … | … | … | … | … |
| Week 8 | KRW 10,000 | KRW 80,000 | 0.000018 | 0.000160 |
*Numbers above are simple examples to illustrate the idea. Actual fills depend on market prices at the time of purchase.
What I Noticed
- Small money, big impact on habit: logging weekly buys helps me stay consistent.
- Less timing stress: I don’t second-guess top/bottom; I just buy on the set day.
- Motivation: KRW 80,000 after 8 weeks isn’t huge, but seeing steady progress matters.
Simple Visuals (Optional)
For a clean visual, I plan to add a line chart showing cumulative KRW and cumulative BTC. If I prepare it later, I’ll include it above the table or right after the screenshot.
What’s Next
I’ll keep the same weekly routine and revisit these notes at week 20 and week 50. I’m curious how my average cost and mindset evolve as the habit continues.
